No Joke joined up with the Zero back in the spring of 92 at the Ground Zero 2 house. He had just been released from the VCU dorms and was dating Buffy D. who was a resident of Ground Zero 2. He was one of the original 18 residents of Red Zero year one. He moved out in the midst of year two when he and Buffy D.broke up. He moved back in for year four after Buffy D. moved out. Back in Hampton he had been part of a break dance crew in junior high school. He eventually found the punk rock and has been through different mutations of musical genres; From the trash bucket drums of the Un-Ones to the 80's jangle rock of Rhythm Lyd to his current band - fulflej.
fulflej was recently discovered by James Iha and D'arcy of the Smashing Pumpkins and signed to their new startup label; Scratchie Records. They recorded an EP and then a full length CD which was picked up by Mercury records for distribution. They went out to LA to shoot a video for their first single off the CD; "Work in this Universe". They went on a five week tour of North America opening up for Better than Ezra. No Joke also produces several local hip hop acts and mixes jungle dance mixes of songs and samples from the X-Files. No Joke is loved by his fat cat; Truck (see title for picture).
Prior to his career as a rock star, No Joke graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a bachelors degree in mathematics and was working towards his masters degree in math when things began to happen with his music. In the mind of No Joke - everything is math, math is everything. He is not human. He sees everything as a series of numbers and formulas.
